Lot sizing on the sales side?

Is there a place to set up lot sizing on the selling side? We have some business where we buy stuff and store them for our customers, and send product to them only in the pallet quantities. I don’t really want to do part specific UOM because something like the quantity on a pallet can change way to easy to lock down inventory to uber specific pallet sizes.

So what I want is something either on the part, or the price list, that has a “Order lot size” or something, so they have to order in quantities that match up to a full pallet.

Obviously, we can customize, but I was just curious if this existed already, because it kind of seems like it should.

We do a lot of retail/bigbox stuff. Our pallet quantities never change once a product is launched. The quantity config - packs per carton, cartons per pallet - usually needs to be finalized before we can even offer it or load it into partner systems…be it proprietary/in-house, GDSN, 1WorldSync, etc etc etc.

Does the Sales UOM not restrict the order to only that UOM?

In our case, the pallet size is not set in stone, they could change at the drop of a hat. And trying to get users to understand UOM conversion is… well… Let’s just say I don’t have the crayons or coloring books to get everyone who needs to understand how it works to make all that work. Everyone already understands eaches (vendor, our users, customer) we just want to have a lot size for customer orders. Just like we can put in for buying from the vendor.

No there isn’t but there should be. There is an idea about this somewhere but I can’t seem to find it right now.

Alright, good to know. I made an idea for it.

I also agree some form of this functionality should exist. My thoughts went to being able to select/deselect multiple selling UOMs to a part. So, right now if you set the UOM Class as Count, you can sell in any UOM from Count.

But on the individual part, it would be nice to be able to select/deselect (in the already existing UOM panel card) which UOMs should be available in Sales Order Entry for that particular part.

Example, for small parts, I may make them in eaches, but I sell them in UOMs like BX050, BX100, BX250… but never as each, or even smaller boxes like BX012, BX024.

I should be able to select from the list of the available UOMs in Part Entry and that then filters the available Selling UOMs on the OrderDtl dropdown.

:face_vomiting: , I am trying to avoid having to use UOMs like that. Orders and Invoices having semi-randomly multiplied units causes billing issues. I agree it could work, I just feel like something simpler could suffice.

We recently implemented this in a much simpler way - UD field on part for sales multiple that displays in part entry and order entry, and a warning if they put an order quantity that isn’t a multiple of that value.

Yup, that’s what I figure we’ll do.

We have a tendency to over customize, because for us, it’s actually easier than learning what’s actually in Epicor  . But I figured I would ask.

I get it. I actually think the UOM design @dcamlin described is what Epicor should implement, but this solution is fine for our purposes.
