Machine Time Costing

Did you ever get this question answered? Looks like this can be done by adding "machine time" as a shift and then create a shop employee record using the machine time shift.

In the process of restructuring methods masters for parts machined on CNC machines.  What costs I'd like to include are:

Set up time by hands on machinist

Machine run time

In process inspection by machinist

additional finish machining by machinist

If any one is doing costing like this or similarly, I would be very interested in how the methods are set up.

The uncertainties I have are mostly regarding the machine time.

Is that generated from the production standard field and if so how is the operation completed?  i.e. while the machine is running unattended, is there an "employee" named "Machine #1" e.g. representing the machine, that must log on to collect machine run time?

Can multiple machines be set up as resources under a common resource group say: Group=CNC machines; Resources = Machine #1, Machine #2, Machine #3?  And if so how are the different Machine time rates picked for specific parts for costing purposes?

Thanks in advance for any and all advice, ideas and suggestions!
