Our company is looking for a CMMS solution. I’d be interested in everyone else’s experience and opinions on this if you are using CMMS either through Epicor’s Maintenance Management module or with a 3rd party integration.
I’ve searched the forums and it looks like it has been several years since anyone has discussed this.
We utilize MaintainX and our users seem to really enjoy it. We have an API function that will push a list of our Maintenance Parts and their associated pricing and on hand quantities to MaintainX. The Maintenance software itself is solid, and the ability to connect it to Epicor was a huge bonus.
I highly recommend looking into it. We went from a custom Access program that was paper based to our Maintenance guys carrying around iPads (or their own personal phones) to receive and complete Maintenance requests.
We definitely have room for improvement when it comes to the connectivity of Epicor to MaintainX (and vice versa), but we have been very happy with it since switching over. The reporting is really good too.
We started out with Epicor’s offering but the SME left and no one wanted to learn it. So it fell by the wayside then everyone claimed the Epicor offering wouldn’t work. So they decided to go with a 3rd party solution. Sadly, they didn’t involved anyone from IT or the Epicor team so the CMMS isn’t integrated with Epicor. I wouldn’t recommend this path.
They selected a local company in Iowa that does CMMS - Thrive. It’s a pretty simple CMMS. Cloud hosted.
We use the Epicor package and it works for our needs. However, 3rd party apps can be more fully featured. My suggestion is get with your team and make a list your Needs --what it must do- & Wants and see what fits best. Your CAM can usually get you a demo of the Epicor offerings too.
I agree completely. The two biggest plusses to Maintenance Management are it’s direct tie-in to the Asset Management module and it’s UI familiarity to folks who’ve already used Epicor. Make sure that the features you NEED are there… those two plusses may not be enough in your organization.
