Can anyone recommend a centralized software to manage all of our EKW handhelds?
There are a few settings in EKW that are unique to the handheld app, i.e. not controlled through MES Menu security, and we want to force some of these without having to manually log to all 60 handhelds and set.
For example, in EKW, Settings > Issues and Returns you can set “Require lot scan validation”.
I know Honeywell has SOTI platform for device management, but I do not know that it do what I’m thinking.
Is there a better means of centrally controlling the software and its settings on our handhelds remotely?
Yes any MDM (Mobile Device Management) software should be capable of remotely managing your EKW handhelds, like SOTI. I have not used it since COVID times. The place I was working had about 15 devices if I recall. SOTI worked well, although it was a learning curve. Cost wise. I was not in charge of the billing so that might be a factor.
Revisiting your question again. I am going to make an assumption here, and anyone from Biscit can comment it would be great. These settings are more than like stored in a local db on device or in a configuration file, so it would be possible to maintain them via an MDM, SOTI, Intune or one of the myriad of others in the market.
SOTI is what we ended up liking over the 4-5 other MDMs we reviewed/demo-ed. You can also host SOTI yourself or find a re-seller that hosts it and manages it. Sometimes the hardware supplier you have may also have exposure to SOTI and a partner there so that they can work together.
