Material Constraints in 8.0

Is there any Avante customer converting to Vantage 8? Doesn't Avante have a better MRP than Vantage 6.x which might support the issues below?

I believe the goal is Vantage 8 supplanting ALL Epicor ERP products, including Avante.

Yes - couldn't agree more. Is there an open SCR# for that one? Along the same lines, scheduling has the same problem with SUBCONTRACTING operations and it is a MAJOR issue for us. It schedules based on 'days out' entered in the operation, but never takes into account once the item is actually sent and when it is due back. So, say an item has 30 days out and has been gone for 20 days, logically, it is due in 10 days, but vantage scheduling doesn't consider that it ever started so if you run scheduling today it will say this item won't be back for 30 days when it will really be back in 10. Obviously, this makes our schedule wrong! I have opened SCR 7943 for this and have called it in multiple times, posted it many times, complained to whoever would listen at perspectives, all to no avail. If anyone else thinks this needs to be changed, PLEASE add your names to the change request.

I just heard something interesting from our friends at Epicor.

They state in their 8.0 APS brochure: "Consider material availability as a scheduling constraint. Integrated directly with Inventory and Purchasing, the APS system knows when material is due and schedules accordingly."

This is not true.

The schedule does not look to see when the material is due to come in, it only looks at the default lead time for a particular part. The same LIMITED functionality as 6.1 and earlier.

I thought I would let everyone know so we can build a case to add this as a function in a future 8.0 patch.

If you order material, and the normal lead time is a week, but your vendor indicates it will be a month, the system should take the due date (1 month) rather than the default lead time (1 week). Wouldn't you all agree?

Thoughts?
