Merant 3.5 ODBC Broker Startup on Vantage 5.20

Thanks (Randy too!), I ened up calling Epicor Support and Foster sent the same document that Randy sent me for creating the batch file. I might have tried the other method of using the built in ODBC but it would have involved a shutdown. The batch file works great and was fairly simple too.

Todd,
I believe there is a way to start the broker from a batch file, but I don't have any data on how to do it. Jay Erikson at Epicor had some knowledge of this if I recall correctly.

Subject: [Vantage] Merant 3.5 ODBC Broker Startup on Vantage 5.20

During our domain upgrade last weekend our Vantage server was rebooted. This stopped the Merant ODBC broker. The only way I know to start it is via ProControl which requires the old Progress Service to be running. I have heard that we are not supposed to have this running as it competes (or something) with the Admin Service. Everything was working great until the broker stopped running and I don't recall how I started it last time after the migration to 5.20.

Any suggestions as to how to start it again? Can I remove the databases from ProControl, activate the service and let it start just the "Other Tasks"? Would this impact the live DB that is running via Progress Explorer? Is there a way to setup the broker to start using another facility such as Progress Explorer?

Thanks,
