I figured this out. There was a BPM that was causing this issue. I
turned off all BPMs for the sales order update, and the workflow worked
just fine.
Thanks!

I'd want to see what the document is that you're passing to
OrderHed.Update() (or whatever) right before the update. There must be
data in Character03 in *one* of the members of the DataSet.

Subject: [Vantage] Service connect weirdness
I am building a new order entry service connect. It is a very simple
import. I take the input doc, find the corresponding ship to, and then
create the order. Easy.
I am having an issue with it though. I get past the Submit new order
conversion, but the actual web method fails. The error I get is:
Web service error : The maximum number of characters allowed for
Character03 is 13000
Client proxy error
Original exception: System.Web.Services.Protocols.SoapException
Code:
http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/:Server
Actor:
Detail: <detail />
I am not passing any data to any other table in the Sales Order dataset
besides OrderHed. I have passed data to Character03, and I have also
tried to force an empty node. Neither works. Is there some sort of
extensive log that I can look at? The log within the admin console
doesn't help at all. When I look at the trace details, Character03 is
blank. I am stumped. Does anyone have any suggestions?
