MES - how do you enter multiple reason codes for nonconformance

Set up a reason code that means multiple codes, eg MULT
In a user field, eg character01, enter in each code separated by a delimiter, eg ;.
You have to modify the forms to put that user field on the form, so the inspector can enter it.
if you want the reason to be both VMS "Vendor Matl - Too Soft" and CTW "Cutting tool worn", inspector puts VMS;CTW in that user field.
Then later you can break this out in Crystal, easily enough using the Split function.
Not perfect, but it works well enough

That's my thought as well. I had hoped someone had already accomplished
this and would be willing to share. :-)

Seems to me the way they have that set up its pretty much a one to one
relationship. I had to look at that from a similar thought process but
revolving around the blame game and tying multiple operators to a
nonconformance which is stored in the same table. Though I haven't
gotten to it I was going to use a UD table and integrate it for that
purpose to create my one to many relationship. Not very ideal, but...

I'm being asked about the very same issue here.

Can folks chime in on where they've wound up?

I basically want to be able to have operators report multiple reason
codes and associated quantities for scrap at the end of an operation so
we can do statistical analysis on the data later.

I've posted a couple messages today that I have not seen come into my inbox. And I have seen several response postings to other subjects that are in response to postings that I never saw the original of. Something seems odd about the Yahoo system or else perhaps my spam filtering layers are clobbering things. But *@yahoogroups.com<mailto:*@yahoogroups.com> is safelisted in all the layers so I am not exactly sure where it might be. OR...maybe Yahoo is blacklisting my posts again.

Could someone (just one is enough) please confirm receipt of messages from me earlier today (specifically a question about Test Databases and a response on the Internet Usage question. Of course....if I don't see this one either and nobody responds I'll have to contact Shirley off-list to get "restored" to Yahoo's good graces.

We just installed a Barracuda Spam device and are in the process of implementing email archiving (legal thing). Because of the archiving issue (did not want the yahoo group emails being archived) I moved my email to a personal subaccount that I have with yahoo. I then set up Windows Mail (running Vista) as a POP3 account to receive the group email versus my Exchange account. This eliminates the need to set up special rules for spam control and keeps the emails from being archived since they are really not emails directed to our company.

Just a suggestion.

Personally, for an inexpensive options, I use gmail for my email here in this
group and a few others not related to vantage. I find it to be extremely useful
since I then forward the emails from Gmail to my ISP account where I get them
POP3 to read right away, but the way Gmail stores and sorts emails makes it very
easy to view an entire thread without having to sort through and find the
individual email that started it, and the search capability within Gmail is
great for researching emails from the past for answers, plus the enormous amount
of space you get for free instead of paying for it with POP3 access at yahoo or
another email service.

Hi everyone. In MES, when ending Production activity, how do others
account for multiple nonconformance reasons (i.e. 2 parts have porosity
issues, 3 parts have pits). Epicor said we need to end out of activity
and log back into that job to enter each nonconformance reason. This
doesn't seem efficient nor does it seem like it would accurately reflect
that amount of time an employee has worked on each of the parts. The
first reason group would show accurate begin and end times; the
subsequent reason groups would show a quick log in and log out only. Any
suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

Kersten,

Would you mind uploading the xml of your customization (or perhaps just the text of any .NET code) to the files section?

We are right in the midst of reviewing our QC related transaction processes and a hearty request was made to enable multiple non-conformance reason codes.

I ended up customizing the whole form so we could enter multiple

reasons. I know this has been submitted as an enhancement request but

I'm not holding my breath. I have implemented some of the UD fields and

defined each to mean a particular reason

nonconformance

Hi everyone. In MES, when ending Production activity, how do others

account for multiple nonconformance reasons (i.e. 2 parts have porosity

issues, 3 parts have pits). Epicor said we need to end out of activity

and log back into that job to enter each nonconformance reason. This

doesn't seem efficient nor does it seem like it would accurately reflect

that amount of time an employee has worked on each of the parts. The

first reason group would show accurate begin and end times; the

subsequent reason groups would show a quick log in and log out only. Any

suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I would also be interested in this as we have a very similar issue...

Could I ask what version of Vantage you are running...? We remain on
8.03.305...

Many thanks,

Nick

Thanks. When you use the UD fields were you able to tie them into the
nonconformance screens for disposition? Do they follow through to DMR
too?

No they are just the text fields in the labor detail table. I have then

I'm being asked about the very same issue here.

Can folks chime in on where they've wound up?

I basically want to be able to have operators report multiple reason codes and associated quantities for scrap at the end of an operation so we can do statistical analysis on the data later.

That's my thought as well. I had hoped someone had already accomplished this and would be willing to share. :-)

That's my thought as well. I had hoped someone had already accomplished

purpose to create my one to many relationship. Not very ideal, but...

I'm being asked about the very same issue here.

I basically want to be able to have operators report multiple reason
codes and associated quantities for scrap at the end of an operation so
we can do statistical analysis on the data later.
