Hi All,

I can customize the method tracker to my heart's content, but am at a
loss on how to make it permanent. I'd normally go thru menu maintenance
and set the default customization in there, but as the method tracker
doesn't appear by itself in any menus I can't set this up.

Any ideas?

In Vantage 8.03 the Method Tracker is Menu ID BMGO3040 on the
Engineering - General Operations menu tree. However it is coded to
not display, even in menu maintenance. You can retrieve a listing of
menu items using ODBC and view it in Excel or Access. You can use
Access to set the OptionType from N to I and then it will display in
menu maintenance where you can then peg your customization to it.
After that is done reset the OptionType back to N.

CAUTION the menu tree is one of the first things loaded when
launching Vantage. If the menu table gets screwed up by poking data
into it, Vantage will not launch. Back up your database before doing
anything that could potentially render the system useless.

We are using a customized method tracker - so I know it can be done.

No ideas here - it looks like the Method Tracker is a 'back door'
hidden application extension of the Engineering Workbench (it
actually looks like a customization of the workbench). Somehow the
application passes the PN and Revision selected to the workbench and
displays the 'Method of Manufacturing' tab only, while not checking
out the part to engineering. Good luck and if you find anything,
please pass it on to the group. I am also curious about trying the
same thing with the 'Job Status Dashboard' which I believe is only
accessible by right-clicking from the job number in job tracker.
