RSN,

Dimensional inventory won't help a lot for your situation. If you
are using MRP to generate job suggestions, have you considered
setting the manufactured part to have a Lot Multiple of 2. The
material requirement will still be 6" per piece, but since you are
always producing in multiples of 2, your material requirement will
always be in multiples of 12".

operation step on a sub-assembly (a valve body) that requires a
single raw material component part issued to it (steel bar stock).
This operation is a sub-contract operation. We issue the bar stock
that is 10" in diameter and 12" in length to a sub-contract
Machining operation that slices the bar LENGTHWISE that then is
machined into 2 valve bodies. (This implies that therefore 6" of
this stock will not make one valve body since it is not cut
crosswise and therefore every 12" piece will always result in 2
valve bodies). How do you set up this operation so that when we
issue quantity 2 it doesn't say Net required Qty 24". Vantage does
not store shape information on a Part and we haven't used the
dimensions on a

We use Vantage 8.00.809 and we have a specific mfgrng operation setup issue that we would like some feedback on if others in the injection mould industry or similar situations use Vantage to set up the part and similar Operation.
