Actually, this is half true.
If you log into Vantage, then click on Options|Change User ID, the
login window pops up. You are *still* logged in! Just press Cancel,
and the origional user is still logged in.
I had one user think that this was a quick way to log out, yet by
pressing Cancel, could get back in quicker. Didn't work that way.

I have just installed it and am testing it for the first time as I type this. I have a question for those of you using this program. Do you have any users who get around it by clicking back every so often just to keep it from timing out on them?

Gary, I just installed the utility this week and have found it to be
terrific. I have more users than licenses but this is helping us out
tremendously. I have one individual who keeps on clicking his way around
Vantage just so he doesn't get booted. I personally find that to be more of
a waste of time than actually logging back in when I need to use the system.

We've been using this utility for over six months now and have found it to
be very useful! Yes, some of our users tried to circumvent the system at
first, but they found out that it was more trouble than it was worth. The
only complaint that I get now is that sometimes they get kicked out in the
middle of entering data. This can happen when they open up a window, leave
it idle for fifteen minutes, and then come back to enter the data. The
timer works off of windows opening and closing, not keystrokes, so this CAN
and DOES happen and they loose their data. Sorry about that, but that's the
price they pay for being able to log on to Vantage and not being stopped
with an "out of user licenses" message!

Wayne, my experience is the user isn't counted until they are in. If you

There's a big difference between a Progress license and a Vantage license.
Progress will cut you some slack and let you have more users on the server
than you are licensed for. Of course, you still need to buy more Progress
user licenses if you are going to have that many people log on at the same
time.
The Vantage license doesn't count until you log on to Vantage, but they
DON'T cut you any slack until you pay for more office licenses.

kicked out if your system is setup to kill the session at 15 minutes of
inactivity. It is possible, however, to set a different time for a specific
user or to lengthen the timeout period.
