That's unfortunate, Codabears contributed a lot to this list.

I understand the rules, and agree I don't want unsolicited help. In this case, Codabears was a large contributor - it's too bad he broke the rules.

I received a stack of emails about Codabears contacting list members
offering their services.

Specifically, I received a number of emails from companies that they had
been called "Based on a posting on the list".

Let me repeat . vendors / consultants are NOT allowed to contact members
offering their services based on postings.

This isn't just me . when this list was first formed in the late 90's there
were extensive conversations about this issue.

The agreement was that none of us wanted to be solicited by vendors based on
our postings.

Codabears has been removed from the list.

Ugh.

If anyone, at any time, is contacted by vendors or consultants offering
their services based on postings on this list please let me know.

Moderators of this list have always taken a VERY hands off approach to this
list.

But this is a zero-tolerance issue. Always has been.

Thanks,

Ok, just so everyone is clear .

Yes, there are Epicor consultants and other misc vendors who are members of
this list.

Yes, they are encouraged to demonstrate their expertise regarding
Vantage/Epicor by replying to questions with sheer unadulterated brilliance.

Yes, end user companies are allowed to HIRE those consultants based on the
brilliance of their postings. It's a wonderful way to find out if they have
a clue before you hire them.

But . and there's just always a but, isn't there?

Consultants / Vendors are NOT allowed to offer their services on the list .
or OFF the list in private emails.

The decision was made some 12-13 years ago that the users on this list did
NOT want to be bombarded with UNSOLICATED advertising or offers of help for
a fee.

If an end user WANTS to hire a consultant / Vendor . you are allowed to post
a msg requesting that Consultants / Vendors in your area to call or email
you --- OFF THE LIST.

Of course, you're probably wondering why I'm posting this message .

Yup, I received an email from a user saying that they had received a private
email offering services to help with their problem OFF the list. Their
company name was also forwarded to several other consultants at the same
time. Consultant was from Chicago area.

User was NOT happy.

Nor was I.

If anyone receives phone calls or emails from consultants on a UNSOLICTED
basis . please let me know because the consultant will be kicked off the
list . PROMPTLY.

Any questions?
