Moving to a new server - problems

We Experienced a similar anomaly. We got a new PIII-900 server, and the
file transfer rate was slower than our old P133 Novell server.

It ended up being a problem with the Windows NT Default TCP/IP Cache
settings in the server's registry. I'll see if I can't dig up the exact
name and location of the key.

We setup another server for Vantage. Hardware wise it makes the current
server feel very insecure. However once I point the mapped drive to that
server, the log on process is extremely slow, as well as navigating in the
Vantage. The client runs great on the server. The ping looks great. As
anyone experienced this when trying to migrate to a new server?

Thanks.
Greg

Greg,
I had something similar happening last year, when I replaced my aging
Vantage server. At that time, I also decided to assign Vantage another
drive letter. For me the problem was in references on the clients to the
old location (and drive letter). I ended up uninstalling Vantage on each
client, and deleting all the entries for Vantage and Progress in the
registry. After that, it ran fine...

HTH,

Paul Siebers
