MRP Due Date Question

We run MRP every night. I’m wondering why some jobs are scheduled late by MRP. This part is due by 11/20 but the unfirm jobs are scheduled to be due 12/9. Is there a setting somewhere that might be causing this? We run Regen, Not finite, Ignore maaterial contraints & allow historical dates.

  1. If those jobs are dependent on inputs (either subassembly jobs or long lead purchased material) it’s not going to schedule the start before those needs are fulfilled. You can move those earlier jobs up, or change PO dates (or cut expedited PO’s) to allow these jobs to move up.

  2. If you’re using finite scheduling, MRP will usually drop the new jobs at the end of your queue in the first available slot. Note that MRP is a generally crappy scheduler. Global Scheduling, if run after MRP, will reshuffle your jobs to better meet require dates. If you have capacity constraints, job priority codes are essential if you want GS to make sure your important jobs ship on time.
