MRP Freezing Blank Title 71071

We had an issue with a BAM causing MRP to hang-up. Once we deleted the BAM it ran fine.

Vic

We have found historically on multiple sites that this is down to record
locking, especially if backflushing and/or Kanban receipts have taken
place.

There is a timeout setting on the appserver setting that you can reduce.
I think by default it is too high and the MRP process gives up.

Use promon to check, if you are getting any exclusive table locks rather
than record locks, if on progress.

Vantage 8.03.404B

Has anyone experienced MRP just freezing up intermittently while
running? Never on the same part or job and not consistently stuck in
one area of the processing such as scheduling, deleting, etc.

If you have had MRP freeze and you have troubleshot some of these
errors, would you share how you diagnosed your situation and any other
info?

Epicor is not much help with MRP.

Thank you very much.

Vic,
I have had trouble with it hanging up on occasion, most times due to a part. I cannot remember what it was, maybe lack of approved rev, or no method for the plant it was running against, something along those lines.
But it was the log file that told me which job was the problem, and from there I figured it out.
Are you having MRP create a log file?

At least for us (8.03.405, MSSQL 2005) the fix seemed to be to apply all
of the performance tuning suggestions that Epicor provides, particularly
settings your Progress schema holder databases to be read-only. Once I
applied the tuning fixes MRP has run reliably (knock on formica :-)). We
run a full regen every day at 3AM and all seems to be well.
