Hello, I have two sites: Main Site and RFK Site. I created a sales order for a quantity of 10 in the Main Site, and two additional sales orders for 10 each in the RFK Site. I then ran MRP for both sites with the part selected as “Net Change”.
I was expecting the system to create two jobs — one for 10 units at the Main Site and another for 20 units at the RFK Site. However, the system created only one job for 10 units in Main Site. May I know Why it created only one job in MAIN site for 10 qty
Check the part settings. is it set up in the other site on the site tab. is MRP turned on in that site. does that site have a rev or do you have an alternate method on your main rev for the RFK site?
that is why you arent getting a job. you probably have a job suggestion. the method is site specific. if you build them the same way in both sites, i would use an alternate method to get MRP to create the job in the other site.
You would need to have the same operations as well as material parts loaded into the RAK site. You can definitely DMT it into your RAK site. But you would have to load bill of ops as well as bill of materials as separate loads. You would essentially do as you did in your main site, but for your RAK site as well.
Did your RAK site create Unfirm job(s) for the sales order? Additionally; the system will suggest jobs based upon whatever planning parameters you have set for that specific part in the part master. Days of supply, min, max, safety, lot sizing multiples.
Resource groups are site specific. you can use the same Operations but you will need to associate the RAK site’s resources to it. you can do this in an alternate method so you can use the same Part Rev
Fascinating. In my mind “operations” are site-specific. I feel like this is true enough as a general rule of thumb - it’s easier to explain this to the Engineers if I never mention resource groups. We just made different operations in each site.
But I never considered the idea of a single operation that points to different resources depending on the site. This sounds either brilliant, or frustratingly convoluted.
So can you put all of the groups you need on the operation (the master record), or do you have to override the operation’s resource groups in the alt method every time you make a new “BOO”?
Thank you. I can now see two jobs — one for a quantity of 10 at the Main site, and another for a quantity of 20 at the RAK site. However, after I performed an inventory adjustment of 10 units at the RAK site and ran MRP, the existing job for 20 units at the RAK site was not reduced to 10. Instead, a new job for 10 units was created.
you just need to make sure that the operation has a resource in that site. when you go into Operation maintenance for the Alt Method site, it wont have anything on it even though the main site had a resource. then we you add new, it will just be another resource on that Op.
A business case for this would be if you have 2 manufacturing facilities, and they make the same stuff, you dont want to have to change the rev each time you are switching where it gets made, you can just switch the Site on the SO release and MRP will do the rest. The Rev on the SO stays the same. Important if you have regulations for Rev control.
Before the adjustment, the job numbers were MRP00000007825 and MRP00000007826. After the adjustment, new job numbers MRP00000007827 and MRP00000007828 were created.
I’m not sure why the existing jobs were not updated instead.
Running a net change on a specific part is the same as running a Regen. it will delete the suggestions unless you select to reuse jobs in the MRP run. if those jobs were firm, you would have seen reduce or cancel suggestions.
I firmed the job and adjusted the quantity to 10 in the RKF site and ran MRP, but the firmed job did not reflect the change—it still shows a quantity of 20.
