MRP / Time Phase Question

I think my initial response to the question left the impression you can't customize Time Phase (as in adding FKVs) if you are running Progress.

You can (and we have) to provide additional Part/Plant info in the header section. An experimental customization (which I don't expect to release) also overwrites some unimportant column (to our process) info listed in the grid with pertinent info (to our process) from FKV tables when a row in the grid is selected via the mouse. However, it is not a permanent write over of the temp table data & a refresh clears it.

I suspect the behavior of time phase could be changed significantly via BPM - as BPM, unlike VB code customization, is able to manipulate temp tables that Vantage apps use 'behind the scenes' prior to making full commit writes to the db.

If you're s SQL customer (sorry, didn't see it mentioned anywhere in the

message thread) you have more flexibility and may circumvent Progress.

Create some views and/or queries in SQL and report from that. I know

Epicor doesn't approve this method, but it would work.

Time Phase is a pure Progress report/app written in 4GL and using only

temporary tables.

You would need the full blown Progress development environment (and

source code) to copy from & then modify the copy to suit your needs.

Unfortunately, although BAQs are written in Progress language, BAQs only

suport a small subset of the language and not what is required to build

your own time phase from a BAQ. The biggest obstacle is no BAQ

calculated field support for calculating the row # of each record (so

the displayed order of supply demand after initial on-hand is correct).

The time phase o/h calc from row to row also exceeds BAQ calc field

language support.

Our planning department would like us to be able to display the child

part number for a unfirm job that is suggested by MRP when they do a

Time Phased inquiry on a Part.

Right now what they use Open With and go to job tracker to get that

information.

Any suggestions on how to do this would be great. I have called Epicor

and short of Custom Programming have not had any luck. If we could find

where the Time Phas Query is maybe we could edit it to return this

information.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Brian

What version?

I have a customization that does that for V8.00.811a and it also
works on newer versions

We are on 803.404 -

Right after I posted this I figured out a way to get this
information. I would love to see how you were doing this however.
What I did was make a Foreign Key and Sub Key view on the Time Phase
Form and then added a Group Box and a couple of Text Fields to show
the information they are looking for.

Have a great day!

Brian
