Has anyone had any problems with MRP not generating jobs that have
been scrapped. Need some input from someone using MRP
Thanks
Chuck

We entered some part numbers and checked the Process MRP box. After
we ran MRP, we decided that we wanted to handle these part numbers
manually, so we unchecked the Process MRP box in part master. These
parts still are being processed through MRP. Did we miss something or
is this a bug?? We are on 4.0.
Thanks

There was a bug that is supposedly fixed on patch 903 I think.
Haven't verified it being fixed though.

I went through my archives of the group's topics, and didn't find much on
MRP. All I have is a few complaints about it, and nothing else. Our people
didn't care for the MRP module in 4.0 when they tried it about 6 months
back. Pretty thin I'm told. In a teleconference with an Epicor rep, things
didn't seem to work that well. He said the MRP module would work better
with 5.0. True or False? And is it full-blown MRP, or just a wanna-be?
Anybody out there using it? Using it successfully?

Gary,
(Just tryin to be honest here -- no offense intended to anyone.) We're using MRP. We skipped over 4.0, so I don't know what to compare 5.0 MRP to - except to say that our 1990's based Growth Power Product had a much stronger MRP than Epicor 5.0 does. If you look at the change list for the latest patch (.331), you'll find dozens of fixes to MRP have happened ever since 5.0 was released. So, 1) They're working hard on it, 2) They're not there yet.

I'm no production person, but our production manager, who primarily used the MRP in Growth Power, has been losing hair since going to Vantage (in the MRP area at least).

If you have specific questions, I can try to answer them the best I can.

We are trying to implement the MRP module, but have been overwhelmed
by the changes it makes. So we tried turning the MRP flag off for all
the parts in the Epicor training database, entered some of our BOMS,
turned the "process mrp" flag on for just those items, and ran the
MRP. The MRP module made changes to much more than just the 10 or 15
parts that we have flagged as "process MRP". Why is that?

We are on 5.1.

Thanks in advance!

Hello All,
Does anyone know how to automate the MRP process is Version 5.2?
--- ## Post #8 by @system
Checked into this a few months ago. It's not natively possible,

The custom coding group has a solution. I didn't pull that thread.

Take care, Steve

If you are working in 6.1, Job Sizes and Multiples will affect
production jobs, but not purchase orders (I really wish they did -
Vantage 6.1 does not handle purchase multiples at all). If you want
to always generate a purchase suggestion for 192, set your Max On-
Hand (Inventory) and the Minimum Order Quantity (Purchasing) to 192.

hello

We are in test vantage we have enter sales order followed by job
wizard, engineered bom,and release job. Why can we not see any items
in MRP to purchase????
--- ## Post #20 by @system
Are the manufactured parts you have entered on your sales orders
flagged as "non-stock" items ??

If they are then these are treated as "make direct" by the system and
you will not see purchasing suggestions until such time as the jobs
have been firmed and MRP has then been run a second time. Where the
parts on your sales orders are for stocked parts you will see the
requirements in the buyer work bench immediately following the first
run of MRP. These inventory jobs do not need to be firmed first.

I hope this makes sense and I am correct in my assumption...

All of our top level units are Non-Stock configured parts and are placed
on sales orders on a daily basis with the "Make Direct" box checked. We
have orders well over a year in advance and run MRP 7 months out. MRP
will generate Unfirmed jobs for the manufactured parts and PO
suggestions for the purchased parts through the cutoff date for MRP. It
is not necessary to firm up jobs for MRP to create demand. Just ensure
that every part has the Process MRP box checked even if it is a
purchased part. Also ensure that every part has a buyer and that every
product code has a planner (don't know if that would keep MRP from
creating demand but it is best to have both of those). Note: for some
reason MRP uses the planner from the Product Code versus the Part.
