Multi-Company Dashboard

Bless you! After reading your posting I went back thru the problems I had with the multi-company dashboards. I had an incorrect Appserver URL set in external company maintenance. I fixed it, was able to log on to the external company and my multi-company dashboards now work!!! I had set up everything else correctly. Support apparently missed my mistake and pointed me to SCR 51625 as my problem. I re-read that SCR and it is about multi-company dashboards not replicating, it wasn't about them not working. Thanks so much for the tip, now I've got to get back to work checking my multi-company dashboards and eliminating the extra steps we've had to go thru for over a year to get combined company results.

Hi, Newbie here. I'm trying to get a Multi-Company Dashboard to work with a user BAQ. I got
everything set up for Multi-Company and I can get a Multi-Company Dashboard to work with
one of the system BAQ's, but it doesn't get multi-company results when I use a new BAQ. I
even tried an exact copy of a system BAQ. Any suggestions as to what I'm missing in this
process. Thanks in advance.

Bob
I'm not sure I'm clear on what your objective is.

If you are trying to get a dashboard to report on multiple companies
AT THE SAME TIME, I don't think that is possible in Vantage.

But, if you are trying to get one dashboard to work in each of all of
your many companies, then that can definitely be done.

Pasted here are some instructions that another group member posted in
a message about 2 weeks ago:

1. Get the dashboard working exactly as you want it in Company A.

2. Remember the exact name you gave it in Company A.

3. Export the Dashboard with BAQs.

4. Go to Company B. Import Dashboard and BAQs. If you have system
BAQs, skip them since you can't overwrite them. The dashboard in
Company B will have BAQs with the Company B prefix.

5. Make sure you give the Dashboard the *exact same* name as you did
in Company A. Also make sure the description matches so you're not
confused.

6. Go to menu maintenance and link the dashboard where you want
it.

7. Now refresh your session. The dashboard should run as expected
in both companies.

If you find yourself reimporting because something got screwed up, be
sure to delete your custom BAQs before reimporting, as at least
in .405 it won't let you overwrite the BAQ on import.

These instructions worked for me. (Thanks bws!)

Lynn

Multi-company BAQs only return data from the current company even when all setup for multi-company is done. It's a known issue that is supposed to be fixed in in 408.

There are so many "known" issues that are "suppose" to be fixed in 408 maybe they should just call it Epicor version 10.

Thanks for your reply, Lynn.

My objective is, indeed, to report on multiple companies at the same time. I'm using the
'canned' test database that Epicor supplies to new customers and I'm getting invoice data
(using system BAQ "zARInvTracker") from the VN10T, VN20C and VN30C companies, so it
is possible. But, strangely, if I use an exact copy of that BAQ, I can't get invoices from
other than the current company. If it's a known issue, as Sue suggested, it must be with
using anything other than system BAQ's.

Being new, I just thought I was missing a setting somewhere when creating the new BAQ.

I believe that to get results from multi-company dashboards, you have
to have Sonic installed and working.

Sonic does have to be working for multi-company dashboards to work. However, the multi-company dashboards aren't currently working even when Sonic is installed and functioning(SCR 51625). I spent days on the problem before I found out it wasn't me, it was the software. It's been targeted to be fixed in 408, but I'll believe it when I see it!

What version are you on? I'm on version 8.03.405 and multi-company
dashboards are working. I do have Sonic running, but I don't think
it needs to be as the data is retrieved without waiting for the next
multi-company process interval.

The BAQ has to be global and the user running the dashboard has to
have the second company set up as an External Company to the first
under User Account Maintenance. When you load the dashboard, it
makes you do an "Enterprise Log On" and repeat your user name and
password to make sure you're set up with access to the other company.
The catch is that the dashboard does not exist in both companies, so
you have to export it from the first, then import it back into the
second if you want to view it from either company.

Hi, Thanks for the reply. We're just getting started in Vantage and we're using 8.03.407
running the test data base (companies VN10T, VN10c, etc.). I've got everything set up as
you mention below. I'm asked for the login for the External companies, etc. I've even
gotten the multi-companies results to display for system BAQ's but I can't get them to
display for a user BAQ, even an exact copy of the same system BAQ that works properly.
I've set the user BAQ to Global and Shared. Is there anything else that needs to be done. I
don't necessarily need to display the dashboard from more than one company so
exporting the display is not an issue.
