Multilevel phantoms and po suggestions

Will po suggestions still work accurately with multilevel phantoms? For example, the demand is on part xyz with 3 levels below it of subassemlies marked phantom and pull as assembly. Going to do some testing and wondering about pitfalls that could be encountered.

that should work fine… when the job is created, the system flattens out all the phantoms and the lower level components (purchased or manufactured) are brought to the surface.

What if no job is created and its kanban receipted. Demand will only show from a sales order and we build to order.

so, if you are useing Kanban and your BOM has phantoms, the system still builds the phantoms in the kanban job, and then backflushes the parts… but like you observe, this is after the fact, and doesnt show future demands from a sales order based on this alone…

BUT, if you put a sales order in for a part that you normally use KANBAN to complete, you can still run MRP to generate unfirm jobs. LEAVE THOSE JOBS UNFIRM. This will drive demands for the purchased materials. THEN as you complete Kanban jobs, the system will automatically reduce the size of the unfirm jobs, and therefore reduce the demands for purchased parts as well.
