Need a Mfg Package for SMALL companies

Try one of the SAGE MAS products. Been around forever. SQL server based. All VB
code (and you can buy source code if your up to it).

It'll grow with you (with certainly no worse performance issues than Vantage -
and much less cost).

There is also something to be said for systems arrogantly characterized as
'simple' (as software is a cost - rarely an enabling advantage). Learn how to be
gvery ood manufactuturers, product developers, supply chain managers sales
people & finance gurus: Then perhaps you will be in a position to not lose
time/money to ERP. Â

Any ideas?

Something simple yet effective?

Kind of like DCD back in the good old days.

Simple database. Low overhead for servers / networking.

Something that average people can comprehend.

I have a number of companies that are looking …

Before we converted to Vista, we used DBA. That had not been properly implemented in our situation, but it seemed like a pretty good little program if set up and used correctly. Although DBA included an accounting component, we used QuickBooks at the time. I would not recommend QuickBooks, except for companies where a person with little or no accounting experience is cooking, er, doing the books. :)

I'm no DBA expert, and I don't really know its shortcomings. But, it was relatively cheap, so it may fit your purposes.

Having said that, I'm not sure there is a "simple" solution to manufacturing systems. If you are going to do manufacturing, or at least do it well, you need to get used to the idea that there will be a level of complexity that does not exist in, say, a mom and pop hamburger stand.

Now, depending on how small you are talking, and what type of manufacturing you are doing, you may be just fine with an accounting package like Peachtree for Manufacturing. Of course, I have an accounting bias, so the information from Peachtree may be enough for me, but not enough to properly run a manufacturer.
