.Net 2.0 Blank Title 54079

installing it locally wont touch those remote users. in addition
your 1.1 code is untouched by 2.0 unless you specifically assign a
new version in an apps config via the requiredRuntime flag - which
doesnt apply here anyway since the app was designed for 1.1 - new 2.0
version to come in next version hopefully.

I was getting ready to install SharePoint Services 3.0 on our Terminal
Server/Intranet server and saw there's a requirement for .Net 2.0. <sigh>

Has anyone run into issues running V8.xxx using .Net 2.0? I have some users
who use the V8 client remotely and I don't want to lose that.

Thanks,

Mark W.
Mark

.Net 2.0 should run fine in parallel with .Net 1.1

We run webservices on clients on .Net 2.0 while having Vantage 8.00
running on 1.1 Framework. All on the same terminal server.

Mark,

Being a .NET developer, the architecture should be about the same unless
you're a developer, and then there are a few minor changes.

Obviously test it out first on a test server or a test client installing
the .NET 2.0 framework, but the migration of just the simple frame
SHOULD be ok.

We are still running Vantage 6.1, but I have been playing with Vantage
8.0xx and it ran fine in a .NET 2.0 environment because that's what my
custom code is being written in.

One other thing, is that if your clients are just going to be connecting
to your Sharepoint InTRAnet site, they won't require the .NET 2.0
framework. Just like going to any website on the internet built in .NET
2.0 or 3.0 at that which I am seeing recently was released. Regardless,
you don't HAVE to have the framework.

I hope that helps a little?

Thanks,

Chris Ryhal

I have both .net 1.1 and 2.0 installed no issues with vantage (I would
not recommend SharePoint 3.0 on a TS though but it should still work)

Mark,
Here is my actual experience.
Vantage 8 / Crystal would give me errors if I only had .net v2 installed.
I had to specifically make sure that .net 1.1 was installed for everything
to work properly.
To solve my problem, I had both installed on the machine at the same time.

Lots of people suggested to me that 2.0 should work exactly the same as 1.1
in regard to vantage/crystal, but did not turn out this way. Spent a day
troubleshooting this with Vantage support who also claimed it should be no
problem, but we found the "truth" out together.
