I'm hoping someone has an answer for me, but then again...
Currently, our 3 sites are connected with CISCO 2501
routers, that Ameritech installed for us about 3 years ago.
We never received any configuration information, or anything
about setups, etc. Now, I'm at a point where I am going to
need to change the configuration in the routers, and don't have
the passwords to configure them( and our ameritech rep says
they don't either) . Is there any way to "Crack"
the password, so I can get in to the router config? If any one
has any ideas, let me know. My email address is
ecfmis@... . Thanks in advance, any and
all suggestions welcome.

Here are a list of Cisco password recovery techniques...

You might try the factory default cfg/admin password.
Do you know which version of IOS your 2501 has?

Haven't used any Cisco gear; But most other routers & switches I've
played with have a serial (com) port, in addition to the network
interfaces. They will usually let you in with no password, or a
permanently defined password if you're plugged in there.

Tim,
I have never tried this but I am told by me brother who works with Cisco routers if yo connect the console port on the back of the router to a serial conection on a computer power down the router and power back on. When booting press the hold the control key down
and press the break key, this should display the passwords.
