Network Printing/Crystal Reports

Thanks, Brian. I'll run this past them and give it a try.

Lydia,

We have run into similar difficulties. Our Order Processing Dept has
an HP 4050 with a fold down tray, and 2 500 sheet trays. Tray 1 is
the fold down tray which they really don't use. Tray 2 contains
normal paper which they print their Sales Order Acknowledgements and
all other everyday stuff from. Tray 3 contains special, heavier
stock, paper with some printing on the back that we use for Job
Travelers. We had a hard time coming up with a way to print to the
3rd Tray for job cards.

Our solution was to set up the printer a second time on each of their
machines with a name like "Job Card Printer", then go into the
printer setup for that printer on each machine and set the paper
source to tray 3. Their default printer prints to Tray 2, and if
they are printing Job Travelers they select the printer set up
especially for Job Cards. It would be nice if you could control that
from the report's own printer setup, but it doesn't seem to work that
way. I assume you could control the # of copies with this method as
well, although I haven't done it myself.

Ok, I'll ask a dumb one that's been bothering me:

My P.O.s are all printed on a network printer - an HP 2100. The P.O.s are
loaded into tray 2. Try as I might (open the crystal report, do print
setup, select the network printer, select tray 2), I can't get the report to
automatically default to that printer and that tray - I would even like to
choose 3 copies as the default (I know, baby steps). I can see no reason
that this doesn't work, but still when Purchasing prints P.Os, they have to
choose the printer (if it is not their default), then select the copies and
paper tray. Saw a thread a few weeks ago that mentioned something about
that, but missed it.

Anybody out there who can tell me what I'm missing?
