New 8.0 Version

Shirley -

We are looking to start inviting Vista users to join the VMUG in
Chicagoland.

To this point: In the past months I've approved several Vista user requests
into the group, with the caveat that there may not be direct relationship
their issues.
Is there a discussion point on the table for inviting the Vista Group to
merge with the Vantage Group?

This brings up another issue -- Vista. They have their own user group. Not
knocking it -- up to them. But doesn't the same reasoning apply?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Vista a subset of Vantage? And none of us
is using EVERY feature of Vantage. So Vista issues would be Vantage issues.
And the common Vantage issues are Vista's. And we all know the off-topic
issues are very important to all of us.

We are in the very early stages of implementing and would also like
to
share thoughts with others.
Oh, it is going rough....

I have just got it running this week on a test server and client.

We've been on 8.0 since the beginning of the month. We went straight
to 8.0 (we never ran V6 except in a pilot last year).

Implementation has been rough - but I think V8.0 has come a long way
in the last two months. It would've been a very rough implementation
had we gone live in March. I asked a key user to rate the
implementation on a scale of 1 to 10. He said a 10 compared to what
he had expected, but probably somewhere around a 7. I viewed that as
a success.

There's not many people on 8.0 - I'd be interested in starting a yahoo
group devoted to 8.0 issues if anyone else is interested.

Kevin,

I would be willing to help with the new group.

Being an epicor partner I bring a slightly different
perspective and at the same time preparing sales
demo's gives me a pretty broad understanding of how
the system works...

Everyone is holding the upgrade because of a few bad comments. I think it

Theres no reason why existing users cant subscribe to
the new group as well to keep informed.

At the same time it will keep extra emails out of
their inboxes until they are ready.

And from the other side, 8 is so different from 6 that
for new 8 users theres really not much to be gained
from the existing group.

Kevin,

We're implementing v8 right now. We are a new customer and it started our
very rough. We put the project on hold for a couple months to let Epicor's
education materials become available and the software greatly improved
during that time. We are just now restarting the project.

I agree with Steph, I don't think there's a need for a second forum.
Someone asked previously about creating a new group for v8 issues, but of a
whole lot of the users on previous Vantage versions want to know what's
going on with v8 and don't want to have to sign-up for a new group to find
out. I don't claim to speak for the group though, so maybe we should use
the Yahoo "poll" feature and take a vote.
Question: Should we start a new mailing list for v8 discussion?

I would really like to see all versions remain on one list. We are planning
to go to V8.0 this fall and would like to keep up with its issues. At the
same time we are still on an older version and want to keep up with issues
on that as well. We could all help tremendously if we would just add what
version we are on to our posts. I know V8 is a major change, but in
separating the group we would also be risking the loss of extremely valuable
experience that is still applicable. We may not have all started with V8,
but most likely we will all get there eventually.

Kevin,

I would be willing to help with the new group.

Being an epicor partner I bring a slightly different perspective and at
the same time preparing sales demo's gives me a pretty broad
understanding of how the system works...

Gavin,
I have to respectfully disagree and oppose the creation of a separate group.
I believe there is a trend toward discussion of 8.0 issues within this
group, and we all deserve the right to hear them and address them as
"Vantage" users. Yes 8.0 is a big change, but the logic and general use is
similar. We have not booted off anyone that is still on 3.0 (there are
still some on this list for sure), but they don't have anything to offer on
any of the new modules introduced since 3.0 and they cannot offer any
assistance with issue about customization and personalization of 6.1 (where
I am at). I am keenly interested in the discussion of 8.0 as part of this
group. Please accept the group as is, and allow it to meld as users convert.
You are in no way prevented from creating a separate group, but I do make
the request to keep us all as one unit.

Theres no reason why existing users cant subscribe to

At the same time it will keep extra emails out of

And from the other side, 8 is so different from 6 that
for new 8 users theres really not much to be gained

Kevin,

I think we need to keep 8.0 right here since that's where we are all headed.

I'm running 8.0 in a test environment right now.
If you have a list of issues I sure would like to hear about your say top 5
or 10 that are the major ones.

Here are some of mine.
Shop Tracker Doesn't have WorkCenter(Resource) History or Employee Labor
Detail Button.

Time Phase doesn't handle the extra decimal precision added to QTY PER items
just drop off the screen.

A lot of individual master file and program issues with NAME SEARCHES not
being seen in OPTION - AUTO LOAD SEARCH or Not having a search setting for
sorting so if you AUTO LOAD the Search the records are not in a logical
order.

Sales Order Status Dashboard hangs.

System monitor acks flaky, no instruction or help on how it works or what it
does, minimizes to the icon tray not like other programs, displays error
messages but I don't know what they mean or what to do with them.

You can kill hung users in promon anymore, If your luck and can guess what
process is running on the server you can kill it that way.

Part Tracker - Bins Tab - By lot does not display anything. (Shouldn't it
match the on hand?)

"User Description" appears at bottom of Sales Order Backlog Report and
Others. (Where does it display?)

Time Phase cant reorder Columns and Save. (Columns Don't Match Time Phase
Report.)

No Print Screen - F6

Totally agreeing with Aaron on this.
Right now V8 is the new model, but in 2 years it will be the old version
of Vantage.
If in that time V9 arrives the same issues would get raised about a new
group and potentially further fragment this great resource to which we
all contribute.
