🎨 New EpiUsers Theme - 10 Year Anniversary Refresh

Hey everyone!

EpiUsers is turning 10 years old, and to celebrate, we’ve given the site a fresh coat of paint. Our old theme was getting long in the tooth (read not compatible with new features). It served us well, but it was time for a refresh

Also, you know how the mods hate peace and quiet. Things were running too smoothly around here, so we figured the best way to generate some chaos was to change how everything looks overnight.

What’s New

Light Mode & Dark Mode

Yes, proper dark mode. Not some auto-generated inversion that makes everything look radioactive, but a hand-tuned dark theme built on a slate navy palette that’s easy on the eyes during those late-night Epicor debugging sessions.

  • Light Mode - Clean white background, Swimming Blue links, deep Michigan Blue header

  • Dark Mode - Slate navy background, Swimming Blue links that pop without blinding you, darker header that blends naturally

There’s now a toggle right in the sidebar (shown below) to switch between Light, Dark, and Auto (follows your OS setting). No need to dig through preferences.

Design Choices

Everything is built from our official brand colors, the same ones in the EpiUsers logo: Swimming Blue, Burnt Orange, Michigan Blue, and Teal. You’ll see them throughout links, buttons, accents, and notifications.

Biggest visual changes:

  • Larger header with a blue accent line underneath

  • Better hover/active states across the board (you can actually tell what you’re clicking now)

  • Buttons and navigation are consistent with the brand palette

  • Category logos sized down to something reasonable

Dark Mode Specific

The dark theme isn’t just “invert the colors.” We used a slate navy instead of pure black and tuned all the hover states so they actually work on dark backgrounds.

“But I Liked It How It Was!”

I hear you. Change is hard. The good news is the Who Moved My Cheese badge is already queued up and ready to be assigned en masse as soon as the complaints roll in. :cheese_wedge:

Seriously though, if something looks broken, weird, or unreadable on your setup, let me know. Drop a reply here with:

  • What’s wrong (screenshot helps!)

  • Which theme you’re using (Light/Dark)

  • Your browser + OS

This is a community site. If something isn’t working for you, I want to fix it.

Happy 10 years, EpiUsers. Here’s to 10 more of helping each other figure out why that BAQ won’t run. :clinking_beer_mugs: (you probably forgot to join on Company…)

Never been so happy to have my cheese moved. I pressed refresh and boom

Darkmode cheese :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Calming Effect: The color was believed to have a subconscious calming effect on pilots, helping to keep them composed during high-stress situations, such as dogfights.

Cheers to 10 years and hopefully calmer days ahead :clinking_beer_mugs:

I found this theme while trying to get back to dark mode. If I hadn’t read this post, I wouldn’t have found dark mode. Love it!

That’s @hmwillett’s special theme!

The only thing I don’t see is the “pop” the solution used to have. In dark mode it’s not contrasted enough. In light mode it is a little better.

Could just be my old, tired eyes…

You can mark me down for the moved my cheese. Not a fan of the navy blue. Miss my screen being black like my heart…

The pointer sparkle trail is what makes it so great!

That’s just from being old and bitter. Like me!

Better?

Maybe, is there a sparkle trail?

So Kinetic UI is still spreading? Next thing you’ll tell us we can’t use this on prem…

Edit: Happy 10th anniversary :tada: :clinking_glasses:

I can turn sparkle trail on… but honestly that’s a bit much

Please don’t…

Thank god nothing happened to the kidney, I was worried for a minute.

What’s this in reference to Josh? I don’t get what you are pointing out.

the heart icon looks like a pointy pumpkin.
