Concerning this orders-jobstatus.rpt file, what version of Vantage is this for and what version of Crystal Reports does it use? I opened it and had an error about a missing parentheses.

Some Notes:
1. This was tested against Version 3, and as far as I can remember,
works for Version 4. Not tested against version 5.
2. The trick with recursion in Progress is to be sure that the recursive
routine works with internally define variables, buffers etc. This
ensures that as you unroll from the recursion, you will find each level
has remembered its own state correctly.
3. If you use this routine, please verify the cost roll up is correct.
There was a bug, that caused it to skip some costs. I think it is
correct now, but please check. Note that it will always go all the way
to the bottom level in building the temp-table. It will only print the
number of levels specified in the initial parameters, so the cost roll
up should always be correct. The output assumes a 132 column printer, so
you may need to "fiddle" with printer settings to get a properly aligned
result.
4. If you have questions, please feel free to mail me off-line. how

Since I have reports in multiple prl's, I tried two sessions at once on
different prl's. Seemed to work ok.
Question, can I add this to the vantage menu structure as a program to run
so I can give it to all users with menu security?

One of the potential advantages of running this program OUTSIDE of Vantage - as a shortcut on the user's desktop, for instance - is that it would save you using a Vantage License each time a user needs to run a report from Custom Report Links.

That's exactly what I did. I just created a "autoreports" folder and built
a brand spankin new .PRL in there, which I hope to populate with the our
most often demanded reports. I see a potential for the ability to schedule
as well as the ability to run reports without using licenses. Too bad all
of my scheduled reports (monthly inventory) export their output to a .TXT
file. If I could only "export" instead of "print" with this utility....
By the way, I am running this version on 4.0 and I have no problems to

We ran into a problem getting it to run on a 4.0/9.0b machine. I'll

Vantage licenses are NOT the same as Progress licenses. Opening Report Builder uses a progress license, but not a Vantage license. It is the Vantage license that we pay the big bucks for to Epicor and is usually the bottleneck with users. By letting users run reports from outside Vantage, you can save your Vantage licenses for Vantage users. Also, your report scheduler would allow companies to take Report Builder away from users, and still give them access to running reports (using the "Run Right Now" button). It's a great thing.
Where Progess licenses come into play is on the Server side, there are -L settings (or dash something) that sets how many licenses can be available. This should be a total of all your Vantage user licenses, PLUS any other Progress licenses you may need (ie. report builder, ODBC, Progress programs like yours, etc.).

Absolutely correct, it's not a one-to-one relationship. I forgot
about the additional Progress licenses that are sold to us for RB
clients and so forth.
I think the next enhancement of the program will include ...
* store scheduling info in a small DB locally
* show all PRLs in a directory allowing users to schedule from
multiple PRLs
* option to export to text
Remember, this is open source code. If anyone would like to add
something, I'll be glad to help.

* option to export to text

Just ran your Schedule program for a second time today. Isn't it supposed to remember the last .prl that was run? On my laptop version, it remembers the FIRST .prl I entered (which I happened to have mistyped and keeps coming up in subsequent runs of the program). On our server version, it doesn't bring up any default .prl. What do you think?

store in c:\DfltPrl.txt, and load it in the PRL fill-in when the
program runs. It should function on both machines the same. I'll

I just uploaded what we use for customer mailing
mailing labels from Report Builder. It prints
3 wide, on 1x2.5" standard labels. We usually print
the first page on a piece of paper to check
alignment, and then print onto the labels.

I also have a batch file to accompany these instructions for running
backups.
It generally shuts down the db, stops AI, backs up AI and database, and
restarts everything.
I will provide copies per request off list.
