New jobs Blank Title 61016

We enter through Job Entry as well, using the Planning
Workbench. Job entry is really just a formality for
us - a lot of clicks to just get it done. Anybody
have any ideas beyond the Job Wizard how to speed up
the process?

Thanks.

Hello,
We are new to Epicor and still in the implementation stage, but what
have you guys found are the best ways to create jobs. From sales
orders or from the job entry?

Thanks,

Brian
We've been using Vantage since 1999 and use both methods. The quick entry
job wizard from Order entry works well for our standard products. Our major
customer orders everyday; and each order has several lines. Most of those
products are standard and require no engineering. Jobs are created from
existing methods and have not changed in years. On the other hand, we also
sell custom (or OEM) products, which generally requires engineering. Those
jobs are created from the planning work bench/job entry since the methods
must be developed by either copying and tweaking similar products or
designing from the ground up.

We would LOVE to use the Job Wizard at Order Entry,
but all of our orders are configured. Has anybody
else had any luck pulling in details from the
configurator via Quick Job entry?

If you run Order Job Wizard at the Order for a configured part and check the
Get Details it will pull the method from the configuration for that Order
Line.

I know that is how it is supposed to work, but it has
never worked for us. It acts as though its pulling
details, but nothing comes over. I was never sure if
this was an "everybody" issue, or an "us" issue.
Sounds like it me be an "us"?

Make sure that in the line order, that there is either a Quote attached (Quote would have the Op's etc) or an Engineering method attached. ie: Approved rev. If neither exist, then it won't bring in anything because it will think it is a brand new part. We had a problem with our Quotes getting changed after the sales order was already created. I just had engineering close the quote until they were done with the engineering of it so order entry couldn't pull it.

There are also a couple ofother ways to create jobs but ultimately it a
personal choice. I like the Job Manager, our prod Mgr likes to make the
Jobs in Job Entry and like them to the Sales Order Release. Try them
all and see what you prefer. - Monte Tomerlin
