When using the “New Material” function in Nonconformance to place material on hold that has been issued to a job, what is the purpose of the “Related Operation Location?” We almost always get an error saying the quantity exceeds the amount for that warehouse/bin but once proceeding anyway, that bin doesn’t go negative because we are placing part on hold from the job, not the bin.
I understand the error when placing parts on hold directly from stock via “New Inventory” but I don’t understand why it prompts us to enter a bin since these parts are issued to the job, not in a specific bin location.
A new material NCF is presumably being done on material that has already been issued to a job.
The NCF entry will essentially return that material (undo the issue) and that quantity needs to be returned into inventory.
I believe the Related Operation WH and BIN is meant to be the location that contains the WIP quantity of the material that was issued. The NCF entry will remove the WIP qty from that location and ‘return’ it to ‘Inspection’ into the ‘To WH and BIN.
Yes, absolutely. The NCF is being done on material already issued to the job.
When you say the location that contains the WIP quantity, doesn’t that location no longer exist because the parts have been issued to the Job? Now that material’s “location” is that Job Number?
Got it! I was not aware that there was the another space called WIP. Thank you for helping me, I believe that is what I wasn’t understanding in this process.
