New W2 forms

My question actually was -- how do you split one field -- employee name --
into two fields -- first name/initial and last name? I have Crystal 7.

I called Epicor forms (888-257-4476) and she told me that they are required
to furnish a patch for the w2's for at least version 4, 5, 5.1. Don't know
if that is the case so I went to irs.gov and printed the new w2. Made a
copy of the Crystal w2 form and changed it. It's pretty simple except for
the name is nolonger employee name. On the new form it is split into two
areas -- employee first name/initial and employee last name. The field in 4
is the entire employee's name. Is there a formula I can use to split apart
the two names?

When I called Tech Support on Tuesday, I asked the question is 4.0 going to have a patch for W-2's. I was told NO on 5.0 and 5.1. I did not mark down who I talked to but
when I pulled the call up in eranet the initials are: BMALZAC. I really do not want to upgrade to 5.0 until after the April. We were not planning to do this until
Mid-June.

Can someone from Epicor - please advise - which is it? Are they providing a patch for 4.0 or not?

Yesterday, Vantage Technical Support for accounting stated that only
versions 5 and 5.1 will be changed to accommodate the new w-2 format. The
first group message didn't state which versions, a later one did. So at
least two of us have heard the same story from Support. She stated that it
was a Development decision. Therefore, your efforts are not in vain.

The W2 patch is only being done for Vantage 5.0 and 5.1. 4.0 will not
contain the patch.
