New XP workstations unable to print Error 533 Crystal Version P

Hi Joe,

Have you verified the database in the Traveller you are trying to
use? I'd try that first. As a note, I would tell you that any time
I modify our Crystal forms like Travellers or Invoices, I do not
have to recompile but I do re-verify the database. I do have to
recompile custom Crystal Reports that I develop for other specific
workstations to run off their desktops, etc. And yes, you can
compile with 8.3.718. There is a patch, or group of patches, that
you have to run on your PC to get the compile function. The support
desk can direct you to it on the ftp site.

Your email caught my eye because I've been looking for answers to my
own problem with Crystal Reports. We have also narrowed it down to
the fact that I am operating a new Dell Optiplex 745 with the
Windows XP OEM and Service Pack 2. We are on Vantage 6.1.541.

My problem is that I cannot compile usable reports for anyone with a
new PC, only the very oldest. This only became a problem in mid-
December when I first got this system.

I have been in touch with 5 or 6 of the support team at Epicor.
They believe it's a dll problem, but nothing we try is working. We
are now waiting for one of our older laptops to become free so we
can load Crystal, the retail XP Professional, and Service Pack 2, to
see what happens. If you ever hear a solution to this, please let me
know.

Good luck.

Hello,

I just purchased four new workstations all are loaded with Windows XP
SP2. Three are Dell Precision 390's and 1 is a IBM T60. All
workstations have the latest and greatest OS load sets distributed
with Windows XP OEM's.

We are currently using Vantage 6.1.535. On the new workstations, I am
unable to print Job Travelers using the Crystal version of the report.
The "older" workstations with XP SP2 print the job travelers w/o any
problems. The new workstations are able to print the canned version
but not the customized one.

In contacting support, they told me to update the version of Crystal.
We were using 8.5.0.217 so I upgraded to 8.5.2.718. Opened the
report in question and did a save as under the new version of Crystal.

Do I have to recompile the report? Is there a way to recompile the
report under this latest version of Crystal? Support has informed me
to re-write the report in order to get it to work properly. Shouldn't
the save as function help in achieving this? I do get an Invalid
handle error when trying to save over an existing report. I was able
to side step this problem by renaming the report.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,

Joe
