NSFW ads on the site

So these have been coming up more and more lately. Some are basically nudity.

I’d normally just click the X and report it.

But you notice the one at the top does not have one of those “AdChoices” options. (I see both kinds on this site)

To be fair, the “AdChoices” ads have never been all that bad - maybe lingerie or something, but nothing you wouldn’t see during a football game. (Still not a fan, though.) But these new ads are really offensive - to me personally, but also at work it’s really bad.

I really need this off my computer.

Several of us have had this issue. I had to turn adblocker back on.

Adblocker 100%. I find it crazy that some people still use the internet without one.

I had an exception for this site, as the ads were OK before and I wanted to support the site

Look for trace.admaster.cc in your data files and delete it. Also any others you don’t want.
For Chrome Settings\Privacy and Security \ Site Settings \ View permissions and data stored across other sites
You can delete them all or selectively.

But no. Its back.

Right, I don’t want to deny revenue to the site. It’s annoying I can’t report these ads selectively.

For the moment this seems to be working now.
Set all the permissions on the cookie for admaster to block

Eeek yeah, I’d not want to try to explain that add to my boss.

I signed up to Patreon to support this site and the ads are gone.

OK, either that an extension I installed seems to be working (plus close and re-open Chrome).

EDIT: Nope. Still there.

Well that’s a very good solution, of course.

I get plenty of help here that more than pays for a few bucks I donate.

There are categories that we can filter (and have)

I will look see if there is others we should remove.

I appreciate it.

I went through and blocked a bunch of categories. Hopefully that helps.

Just curious, do you get to see any click through rates for the ads? Does the site get paid for impressions or click throughs? I wonder how many folks on here click an ad. Personally, I would never, ever, ever click an ad on purpose. I assume they are all fake and full of malware. If I am interested in a service or offering I see in an ad, (I am never interested) I would go to that site directly. Thanks for helping to keep the site clean!

As far as normal, non-offensive ads, I get ones that follow me from Google searches and such. So right now I am seeing Trivago and Sherwin Williams (paint). There are totally innocent ads on here.

I’ll click on those just to deliberately send whatever fraction of a penny to this site.

As far as offensive ones, I want to reiterate that the “AdChoices” ads are fine. I guess there is another ad company in play here that is a bad actor.

Yes we get paid “more” for click throughs, but we also get paid for impressions. And yes some users click 335 clicks last 30 days

So we only use AdSense (AdChoices) that’s from Google. But they are a re-seller they sell ads to everyone.

I just blocked certain categories that should stop explicit ads from showing.

Right, but you know what I am saying? The bad ads are different in structure. They don’t say “ADVERTISEMENT” at the top; no way to report, etc. I’d think all AdChoices ads would have that same frame around them. It’s like these other ads are coming from somewhere else.

EDIT: Wait no, it does at least say “ADVERTISEMENT.” Guess I missed that.

Anyway, I don’t know if you can report the particular site to Google.

Yeha, I’m hoping the category control includes 3rd party re-sale. Let me know if you still see naughty stuff after today.

It usually takes a few hours for settings to propagate through the Ad network so I’d say starting tomorrow.

I’m withdrawing my patreon so I can get the dirty ads.
