ODBC and Character01

Instead of a join you might be able to get a larger record complex and then filter down on those items being equal. Depending on other factors (overall size of complex, number of tables, reducing complex size via a key) performance might be really poor but then RB could handle the rest without resizing in DB. Might be worth trying if you already have an RB report close to what you want and see how performance is using filtering.

May have to resize then. Tried using RB but one of the joins I need
uses a floating point numeric to an integer numeric. RB does not like
this at all but Crystal (ODBC) is more forgiving.

Anybody else got an idea?

I need to filter on a Character01 field in Crystal (APInv). I can add
the field to a report but when I try to create a filter or formula
field using Character01 it is not available for selection. I realize
it has to do with the format/length of the field. I remember using a
workaround for this but can't seem to remember what it was. Getting
old is a bear......

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

The two options we have used are:

1.) Change the size of the field in the database to less than 256. (Epicor
can give you the instructions). However, if you re-index it will reset to
the original size so you'll have to remember to change it again.

2.) Write the report in Report Builder. It seems to be able to handle the
memo/blob fields.
