Odbc error

Hello Troy,
My ODBC Group and default configurations are up and running. The service
port numbers match on the client side. IE. test database ODBC Group is 2553
and my file dsn for test is also 2553. I have narrowed this down to a
problem only with my live data base. The ODBC connections to my test and my
training work OK. I deleted and recreated the file dsn for my test database
ok, I deleted and lost my file dsn for the live database. When I try to
recreate it I get the same network daemon error. At lunch time I will shut
down and restart our live database, if I still have a problem I will change
the ODBC Group port and see what happens.

Thanks for the ideas.
Mark

Mark,
Sounds like maybe something on the server side. Can you verify that the
(assuming the you are using Progress Explorer) that the ODBC group is
running?
ON the client side, verify that you are using the odbc service name. You
might test this by using a System DSN rather than a file DSN to see if it
connects (using the Database Administrator). Check each item carefully...
Database path, Service name, Database name, etc. Then click Test Connect.

If ODBC connects correctly, then Crystal is suspect. Did you try both DSN?
(ie. the test one and the live one?)

Hello evryone,

I have been using Crystal 8.5 with Vantage 5.00.326 and progress
9.1a26 for a couple of months. I have a file DSN set up for my live
database and my test database. Things have worked fine until last
week. When I open crystal and try to connect to a file dsn thru the
data explorer I get ths error: "[MERANT][ODBC PROGRESS driver]
[PROGRESS] Error in Network Daemon" Can anyone tell me what this
means. I suspect something has changed in the configuration of our
server. (windows 2000 server) We seem to be doing alot of software
updates to deal with windows security problems. I can still open
reports that already exist. I just can't add any tables to them.

TIA
