In the two years on the list, this question has come up before once but to my knowledge there was no solution.
Just some report hints for speeding it up... the more filters you can add to the report the better (ie. Add a company filter even if you have only one company). Filter by any of the main indexes will help also if you can.
Lastly, Report Builder is much faster on large tables like the Labor Detail report. If there is any way you can rewrite the report in RB, you will save yourself lots of headaches in system performance (and time).
A third option is to use a report scheduler to run the long reports during off hours.

Subject: [Vantage] ODBC Processor/Memory Usage
Does anyone know how to limit the amount of memory or processor usage for
each ODBC session in version 5.0. This problem occurs at the end of each
month when we have multiple users generating Crystal Reports. Our Labor
Detail table has over 1.5 million records and each time a report is
generated off this table it uses around 50% on the processor. If 2 reports
access this table, it basically slows the server and Vantage to a crawl.
The server has dual 1GHZ processors and 4GB of RAM and I have the #Blocks
set in the PET, but I cannot find a setting to limit the ODBC usage.
Thanks in advance,
