I use Access on occasion to write data to 8.03. I've never tried to add a table. There are some gotchas when using Access. 2003 requires a registry hack and there is a problem with some tables that requires some adjustment to the Progress table. Don't remember the details off the top of my head.
Theoretically, any program that can write data using ODBC could write to the Vantage Progress Tables. Of course if you are using MSSQL then things become a lot easier.

Subject: [Vantage] ODBC Write serializable MS Access 8.03
I had been able to use an MS Access ODBC connection to write data when we were on V6. I think I pulled it off again in a test situation in V8.0. Now that we're on 8.03, I get an error attempting to add a table using a serializable connection.
Is anybody using MS Access to write data? If not, are there other methods?
I realize the risks, but sometimes have to make mass changes.
thanks in advance
