I had some similar problems with Win2000 Pro systems and it was cured by
loading Service Pack 2 on the systems. Takes about 10 minutes, and printing
problems with .pdf and several Vantage printing issues were cured.

I had this same problem. I beleive what you need to do is update your
printer drivers, at each local station. I went to Hewlett Packard and
downloaded the following file and this corrected the problem.
hplj4000_ps_en.exe
Now this is for the HP Laserjet 4000N, which we have. If you have
another brand or model, you'll have to go and find an upgrade just for
your printer.
