with some people connecting to us.

We have a two port brooktrout card that has been working great for two
years, with no intervention. It's much better than regular modems for
faxing.

Bob:
What model board are you using?
What kind of phone line are you connected to?
Did you buy direct?
How much do they cost?
Do they come with software?
Do they work as if they are a printer?
Thank you very much!!

Rick......
Jeez...I have trouble remembering last week, let alone 3 years ago..however,
to answer as best I can. We purchased from our local hardware service
provider (the guys we bought our NT servers from) who were also selling a
network fax solution amongst other things. The software that we purchased
is called RightFax. This is an enterprise fax solution runs on an NT
Server. Take a look at their web site. www.rightfax.com I can have faxes
routed through our e-mail system if desired. I use a standard phone line,
with inbound faxes directed to an HP 5P printer. Outbound faxing is either
from the desktop, or when required, from a central fax machine. I don't have
the documentation handy on the model of the board, but I am sure there has
been significant changes since I purchased. Not sure this helps.

Rick... Take a look at Net Satisfaxtion. It doesn't require
NT server. It will run on Win95, Win98, WinNT wortkstation or
WinNT server. It runs really well with a brooktrout.

I have to put my $.02 worth in.
I fought winfax for networks for several years. I investigated several
other network fax solutions.
RightFax. Finestrae (sp?).... I finally came across Faxmaker.
They offer several versions. I use the one for Exchange. They also have
versions for Notes. And
a generic one for SMTP-Unix. Cost is $395 for 10 users. You can download
an unlimited time
5 user version for free.( it puts a 1 line add at the bottom of all your
faxes). Even with the free version
I have found their tech support outstanding. The software just works. No
problems . Ever.
It is fully integrated with Exchange and outlook. It's in Exchange as a
connector. The server portion
of the software can be installed on the Exchange server or any other nt
server or workstation.
You can print to the Faxmaker printer and it will capture the fax image and
pop up an e-mail with the
fax as an attachment. Then click on who you want to send it to in your
contacts. Done. If you want
to install all of your application software on the fax server, then you can
simply attach files to an email
and send it to faxmaker. It will convert them to raster/fax images and send
them on. This is useful if you
want to fax a spreadsheet and a letter and a drawing or whatever.
I use a MultiTech modem with mine. It will accept Brooktrout and just about
everything else.
When something comes along that solves problems, when it keeps users happy,
I have to let others know.
I am very impressed with this software. And it's the cheapest I have found.

I don't know without digging but I can tell you that it's an
ISA board and it works far superior to any fax/modem. All
of our connection problems have gone away.

I had the same problems with standard modems (Hayes, USR etc). A few of my
customers couldn't connect.
They could connect with our old stand-alone fax machine. I called my
software vendor (Faxmaker) &
they suggested MultiTech fax modems. Got an ISA model. All connection
problems went away.
