[OFF TOPIC] FLORIDA RESIDENTS / TAXES / questions for bean cou

Related to this, I worked for Ernst & Young several years ago. Before I
left there, they had updated their timesheet software so that it required
you to put the state, and in some states (like here in Indiana), the county
in which you had worked during the day. I believe this was so that E&Y
could track where state and local income tax payments should have gone vs.
where they were actually paid (track where your salary was "earned"). With
the weekly/daily changes in working locations in public accounting, this
could be a nightmare if the taxing authorities wanted to get technical.

Thanks!

Not a bean counter but....
Alaska, Washington, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, Texas and Florida have no
state income tax. Some may have local (city/county) income taxing authority
but I believe Florida is not one of them. New Hampshire and Tennessee tax
only interest and dividends - not wages.

Recent issue - MN has high income tax (high every tax actually) and is home
base of Northwest Airline. Some pilots claimed FL as "home" but spent too
much time in MN (had homes here) and got in hot water for not paying MN
state income tax. FL has a lot of sports figures resident due to no income
tax on their big salaries but some states now tax them for the % of salary
for games in that state (work done in-state). I'll bet PA will want income
tax on earnings for work done in that state. What state isn't trying to
scoop as many dollars as they can right now? I've had to do split MN / WA
taxes for myself as a non-resident before and they generally go by where the
money was earned.

FWIW - Tax haven USA - Vancouver, WA. No income tax and across bridge from
zero sales tax Oregon.

Good Morning Group,

Sorry for the off topic question -

We hired an employee that will work in PA but lives in Florida is there
any special taxes in Florida that I need to know about? In PA we have a
state tax but I was told Florida does not have this tax. Does florida
have their own tax? This employee just moved there and was not sure.

Question for our accountants out there - since he works in PA is he
still subject to our state tax??

Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting! Especially as I'm sitting in our Portland facility facility which is a stones through across the river from Vancouver (ok, my arm is not that good but it's close).

However, with the weather here today...I'll pay my high state tax from SoCal so I can stay warm!
