Off-topic - Forecast Items

Hi,
Here is what I would like to see done, I haven't been able to get my
sales department to do it completely, but we are getting closer. Currently
we get a blanket order and put the total quantity at the end of the year and
put releases on as we receive them, which is about 3 days before we ship
them. I would like to see separate sales orders for the forecast with a
prefix in front of them, or forecast in the PO so I could sort them from the
rest. And I would like to see these broken into monthly quantities. When
we get releases I would like a new SO put on and the forecast SO reduced by
that amount for the month. And then towards the end of the month, the
monthly forecast that is left gets evaluated. If there was a quantity left
that the customer wasn't going to take, I would then move it to the end of
the year bucket. About 80% of our work is kanbans, and it is impossible to
keep track of what our projections for the month look like with not having
these in the months that they are forecasted. You can also tell much
earlier in the year if your customer is not on track to take the forecasted
quantity. Can you tell I have a definite opinion on how this should work?
If you have any other questions feel free to contact me.
Thanks,

Hi. I'm looking for some input about P.O.s from customers that have
forecast items on them. Do you all include them in your backlog? Do you
have any special tricks for excluding then in your own projections/forecasts
for financial planning? Are there specifics about when they are included -
such as the year they are forecast for, or all of them are put out a decade
or only if they are within a specific time-frame? There were a couple of
responses a while ago about blanket orders, but this is a little different.

You may reply off-list if you don't think this appropriate.

Thanks in advance.
