Actually, having been a vendor of hardware for a while if my memory is
right IBM and WD are actually made by the same manufacturers, and they just
change the labels on the outside of the drive.

You might want to try some of the IBM series of hard drives. They are
excellent quality, and priced around the same as WD. We have been having
a
higher failure rate with those as of late also, just this last week I had
to
do a reformat and reinstall. I am not willing to Write off WD, but am
leaning more to IBM hard drives.
