Off Topic: T1 Multiplexer

I've used Adtran equipment many, many times for this. They are one of
the industries standards. Depending on how big you need to go, look at
the TSU600 or something similar. If you need more info, let me know.

Sorry for not responding sooner but I was out of the office. We use
Nortel Passports between sites and they are so rock solid I can not
begin to tell you how glad I am we have them. We have a frame circuit
between sites and configured 4 voice channels plus our data which uses
Citrix XP. The remote site is 100% terminal services.

I was wondering if anyone is using a Multiplexer?

I have a point to point data T1 being installed between two offices.
We would like to be able to split several of the T1 channels out for
Voice.

Has anyone here done this? Did you purchase a Multiplexer? If so, what
type?

The options are about ready to make my head pop.

Thanks
Jeremy

Don't use multiplexers with this application but before when I worked with a
different company we used Multi-Tech almost exclusively out of Minneapolis.
Handles voice well and the MPlexors are solid and easily configured. Contact
their sales and they'll tell you what you need.

Jeremy,

I suggest using an Adtranz TSU 100e multiplexer. It will split the
data and voice channels as you want. You will need to get a voice
card for each unit (FXS and a FXO - one is a "sending" card and one
is a "receiving" card). Then off of the data side you can put a
router and the voice side can go to a PBX or directly to a hand set.
They are easy to configure (i was an "expert" after the first
install).

Its a long link, but check out adtran's site.

There are cheaper alternatives out there, but I havent found any
where the product is as good.

Let me know if you need anything more
Jeff

Have you thought about setting up a point to point VPN using broadband connections at each location? I think this would save you a ton of money.

Our Point to Point pricing is only $20 a month more then a T1 to the
Internet. Obviously, a P-P is much faster and more secure and does not have all the
problems associated with a VPN or the vulnerabilities of working on the public
Internet. Either way, I still need to split Voice channels out. I would
rather stay away from a VOIP solution at this time since this will be the
primary lines of communication for this branch office and the cost of changing PBX's
is very high. We are integrating PBX to PBX.

Thanks for the advice,
Jeremy
