Testing is a Great Subject.
I test everyone.
I made up a basic skills test in ms word, that ask some basic math, spelling
and matching questions. In addition to the basic test you may want to ask
some local employment agencies if they have a testing program, most do and
do not charge extra for it. We use Manpower and they do a battery of tests
for each specific job that we are hiring for. They can test for excel,
word, data processing, assembly, etc.. I even test professionals, I either
search the internet for a computer test and download it or I have who ever
the person will work for conduct a skill / proficiency test.
This has made a huge difference for us.

I am currently interviewing for a Customer Service / Administrative
Assistant. We are asking the applicant have experience with Word, Excel and
Access.
Now my question is - how many of you test their applicants for their degree
of knowledgability of this type of software? Everyone (well almost) can
type but can you get the most out of the software.
Second Part of the Question - if you do test - are you willing to share any
of the test? I am currently making one but why recreate the wheel?
