Has anyone seen the ads from HP promoting their new PC "Blades"? Same basic
idea as Server "Blades".
Looks like the idea is to move your PC's to your server room where they are
easier to maintain and then use a specialized thin client of sorts as the
remote desktop.
Yes, I know, terminal server / Citrix is VERY similar in underlying theory.
Personally, having run Citrix for 3-4 years during the mid to late 90's I
was never that big of a fan. We just aren't big enough to justify the cost
and configuration hassles.
On the other hand I have 6 or 8 remote ( WAN over T-1 ) users that it would
be nice to just have their PC's here.
From what I can see the HP PC blades are based on direct Cat-5 connections
between the desktop and the blade which isn't going to work for me.
Has anyone used a "Thin" client running VNC or PcAnywhere to control a
remote PC via TCPIP as opposed to a Thin client linking to a terminal server
/ citrix box?
Thanks,
