The last batch of servers I installed, I used Belkin's UPS's. Came with
software and cables and where inexpensive.
These servers have redundant power supplies, so I connected the three
server's six power supplies to the ups's so that each power supply was being
fed from a different UPS. That way - if and when I have to, I can down a
UPS and swap it out without having to down the server.

Any opinions out there on:

APC
Tripplite
Powerware
Other ??

For 1.5kva to 3.0kva units? ( I generally use 1 UPS per server ... )

I've been a APC customer for most of the last 10 years using Smart-UPS
1400/2200/3000 units but am losing faith with these units. Mostly because
they will show "Full" battery charge when in fact the battery is just about
dead. We lost power last night and 2/3's of my units which showed excellent
charges died within seconds even though normal load is about 5-10% of rated
capacity.

APC tells me that the "Battery Charge" LED's aren't necessary accurate and
that the only way to really tell is to check them via software which I don't
do. They also suggested that I hookup a vacuum cleaner to each unit
occasionally and then unplug the power to see how long the units will last.
.... No, I'm not kidding ...

At any rate, what are rest of you doing to make sure your Vantage servers
don't crash and burn every time the lights flicker?

Thanks -

I just received in a Tripp Lite OMNI VS 1500XL . It's 1500 volt amps and
950 watts for only $207. I just needed it to hold up my new server while
were in testing stages before moving it to the equipment room.

I'm an APC guy from way back. This is my first Tripp Lite purchase and It
seems to be fine. Only deal is no CD with the shipment, but they have all
the software on the web ready for download.
