Off topic - web site traffic analysis

It seems like there's a Crystal product called Crystal Analysis that you can
download from Seagate (called Crystal something nowadays). It was posted on
this group a month or so ago.

I'm looking into web server log file / web traffic analysis software.

Have any of the other Techie types got some experience with these tools?

I downloaded the trial of Webtrends Log Analyzer, but to be honest I wasn't
all that impressed.

Just downloaded the Net Tracker software for a look later.

I was wondering though, has anyone got any Crystal Reports that will do this
task? It seems a little silly to pay for expensive software when surely
there are some Crystal Reports out there somewhere to do the task...

Anyway, could anyone with experience of these tools give their opinions on
available software and / or forward any details on standard log files /
crystal reports that you may have?

Thanks,

I haven't deployed anything yet, but for the price I liked WebSpy Analyzer. It is only about $600 compared to over $1000 for the others. They have a free trial download at www.webspy.com. They are about to release a new version, and pricing will probably go up some when they do. I would be using it for Proxy (MS-ISA server) log analysis, and have only evaluated it on that basis, but it has a very nice interface. I have played around with Crystal some, and in comparison to Webspy, it was night and day as to what could be done (and how fast). Sometimes, spending a little money to save scads of time is a no-brainer.
