Olap cubes

Seagate used to offer two other products Seagate Info and Seagate Analysis.
I believe now it is called Crystal Analysis. Although I haven't actually
used them, I believe I saw a presentation somewhere concerning the use of
these other products and the mention of designing OLAP cubes. Check out
Seagate's website @ http://www.crystaldecisions.com/

Hi Shirley ...

At the last VMUG meeting ... Progress sent a rep
to do a presentation on a product called Corvu ...
it supports the establishment of data relationships
that can then be used by a non-report writer person
for ad-hoc queries and so on ...

As far as I know, Crystal doesn't offer the same sort
of functionality that is thought of as OLAP ...

I checked Answer Book, (Eportal) and I looked at our past postings at
SpamHoo, but did not see any references to creating OLAP cubes with crystal
and the Vantage DB. Is this a doable thing quickly, (like this afternoon),
or is it not possible with Progress.

Hello, everyone:

Have an interesting situation, I know several of you have encountered. We
are building a part (call it 123). Part 123 has been at Rev B for most of
it's life. Now the customer has a different and parallel need (like a
different color, or a different version of the same part). We will be
selling both items.

Is it, in your experience, better to have different part numbers, rather
than selling two revision letters of the same part?

Input off-line if you have any suggestions.

Thanks a lot.

OLAP CUBES. Is that anything like Rubiks cubes?? I used to do that when I was a kid, but you shouldn't figure on starting a rubiks cube from scratch and doing it in one day. With a few weeks practice it might work. I have no idea what an OLAP CUBE is however.

Lydia,

We have similar situations here. When this happens we create a new part
number. On the drawing or spec sheet in may appear as a tabulated drawing
rather than a whole new one.
