On Prem 10.2 to Epicor Kinetic Public Cloud ( Data Migration Cleanup and GL Redesign)

Hello everyone!
I am new to the forum and just wanted to get some feedback on any tips for getting ready for our conversion from On premise 10.2 to Epicor Kinetic Public Cloud. Been here for about a few months but now taking over this project

Goal is to:

  • Data Migration Cleanup and GL Redesign from 10.2.100 to Kinetic Public Cloud

  • Epicor has assumed we will run one database uplift (Cirrus Conversion) on the environment and then assist with a new company setup

We do have a single internet provider but am thinking of us getting a 2nd internet provider that is different so in the event one provider goes down so we have a backup?

My understanding is that Epicor will guide me with using the DMT Tools ( at a charge ) , advice on where to start on my own with this?

Please if I can get any tips or recommendations to get ahead of our Project Manager , will be greatly appreciated !!

:tada: Welcome! :tada:

It’s a must in my opinion when you depend on the cloud to run your business.

We have 2, and a third emergency option if necessary.

Perfect I appreciate your opinion! Got about 40 users at my location at the moment so want to make sure that our business can operate efficiently. Have another 2 locations with about 10 users combined .

Another backup option for some is 5G hotspots for emergencies.

And when I say emergencies, I mean maybe you can’t trust your network because of a cyber event for example. If you keep recent backups up in Azure, you can spin up servers in the cloud and have a safe network that is segmented from the untrusted local one.

But also for other emergencies like fire, weather, or other damage to the facility. This would allow the company to keep doing administrative work until the building was accessible again.

That’s exactly what my 3rd (emergency) backup is.

If you are going through the cirrus program, your whole database will end up in the cloud with no changes (well, aside from going up to the latest release). You won’t really be able to redesign your GL and you don’t need to use DMT.

When you say new company, is the new company set up in addition to your existing company? Or are you planning to set up a new company so that you can redesign the GL and migrate all your data from the old company to the new company? Because if its the latter I personally wouldn’t go through the cirrus conversion program at all, I would just start with a blank database in the cloud and implement from scratch. No point going through 2 migrations when you can just do one. But if its the first scenario where you are just adding companies, then yeah it makes sense to get to the cloud first, then add the new company.

Scratch was the way to go for us, of course we also came directly from Vantage 8.

That is a great idea to have a 5G hotspot in the event of emergencies like you stated, I appreciate your advice!!

Yeah I was a bit confused on the cirrus program , I just got the green light that our company signed the contract and this was notated in that. We are suppose to start making changes to our environment and clean it up prior to purging everything over to Kinetics. So we will be starting a new platform as if it was our first time being an Epicor customer is what I would told. That’s where I am confused because we have DMT hours being notated.

Sorry for confusion , I mean I myself am new to working for my company. We are not adding any new companies only upgrading from our On Prem 10.2 to Epicor Kinetics Public Cloud.

We are to clean out our data bae prior to migrating over to the new system. Then the Cirrus program will help migrate over those clean files onto our new environment.
