One-off Purchased Items on a Sales Order

If it is marked make direct on the sales order, uncheck this...then it
will show up in PO suggestions.

Then create the PO for 'other".

Subject: [Vantage] One-off Purchased Items on a Sales Order

How do you order a one-off purchased item on a Sales Order so that it
shows up on PO Suggestions? Sales knows the part number and vendor and
needs to communicate this info to Purchasing, but order entry wants to
treat it as a Make Direct. this creates a suggestion to make a Job to
fill the demand, right? How can this be done?

thanks,
Keith

If the part is purch type & nonstock, you'll get a buy-direct suggestion.

that would require the part to be in the part master, right? I don't want to have to add a part to the part master...

Nothing to stop you from linking a buy-direct PO line/rel to the non-partmaster requirement.
(I've forgotten if the only recourse is a Misc line because p/n isn't 'real'.)
Not setting part up as a part record limits how much MRP can help you.
Is it really that big a deal to enter the part record?
???

Well, entering the Part in the master is non-value added, and explodes our part file with junk. Big deal? Yes, when viewed from a Lean perspective.

I see what you mean about linking the PO directly to the SO. Perhaps there is a way to fire a BPM to alert Purchasing... Somehow i want the system to tell purchasing about this buy-direct part...

I 'get' the lean angle if the magnitude is that great.
The BAM is a good idea.
Alternative would be a simple BAQ based dashboard that shows all SO line partnumbers NOT in partmaster and NOT already linked to a buy-direct PO (OR make direct job if that can also be the case). (Self-sevice refresh on demand process that wouldn't fill inboxes with emails).
