We are a custom industrial automation company. The job production quantity is always 1, we only report labor hours.
We have operation sequences like Mechanical Engineering with hundreds of estimated hours. We desperately need to break the operations like ME into smaller sub-operations, so we can track the progress more accurately. We don’t want to add more regular operations because it would be a nightmare for scheduling.
Has anyone done anything like this? Thanks in advance.
Hi Roger, I don’t have a solution for you, but wanted to say you are not alone! 
we have this exact same issue and also in industrial automation. This is the reason we don’t use Epicor’s scheduling tool. We’ve just resorted to scheduling outside of the system (spreadsheets and evaluating other tools). Didn’t want to have tens of iterations of the same operation because it would be a nightmare for the engineer entering their time.
This sounds more like a Project with Phases and even Tasks.
Do you use the Project module?
